This viewpoint is unbelievable, "surrounded by a maze of wildly eroded and vibrantly colored badlands, this spectacular view is one of the park’s most famous. From Dante's View one can see the central part of Death Valley from a vantage point 5,500 feet (1,700 m) above sea level. Definitely worthwhile.Unreal views. Simply walk 500ft south of the parking lot and you’ll get the full breadth of the valley. Dante's View provides a spectacular look at Death Valley's remarkable scenery.

The most breathtaking viewpoint in park, mountain-top overlook is 5000 ft above the inferno of Death Valley. I'd say if you have the legs, do Mt Perry (not the easiest) but otherwise nice view of the whole valley down there.

This difference in elevation is a staggering 11,331 feet (3455 m) — the greatest topographic relief in the conterminous U.S.. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Dante’s View looks toward the skyline of downtown with additional views to the northeast over Glendale and the San Gabriel Mountains. Water is available for dogs to get a drink and Dante’s View is a nice spot to linger.

Look for the Devil's Golf Course--a field of complex mineral formations that looks like a large body of water from above. Do keep in mind that it is MUCH colder than it is in the valley floor up here. We went after we had already done a number of hikes in the Valley, which greatly enhanced the experience.

It is about a 45 minute or so ( about 28 miles) drive from Furnace Creek Inn and the road is curvy and steep. A fun piece of trivia is that Dante’s View was used as a filming location for the 1977 version of The other four of the Top 100 climbs that fall inside of Death Valley are: #50, Townes Pass East; #56, Wildrose;  #73, Daylight Pass; and #90, Townes Pass West.
