Fluor and its joint venture partner provided engineering, procurement, and construction management services to Tengizchevroil (TCO) for the Asset Development Project, one of the largest and most complex projects undertaken in the oil & gas industry.The Asset Development Project was a combination of the Sour Gas Injection (SGI) and the Second Generation Plant (SGP) Projects at the giant Tengiz and Korolev Fields, located on the northeastern shore of the Caspian Sea. The scale of the undertaking called for engineering to be performed 24 hours a day at project offices located in different time zones around the world.

FGP will expand production by approximately 12 million tonnes per year. Tengizchevroil's Future Growth Project-Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) is the next major expansion of oil production at Tengiz and is of significant importance to the Republic of Kazakhstan. Modules will be assembled in fabrication yards in Korea, Italy and Kazakhstan before being shipped to site via the Russian Inland Waterway System.Fluor started working in Kazakhstan in 1982 and has been working with Tengizchevroil since 1997. The project’s approach to construction of the FGP-WPMP facilities is to use large, fabricated equipment blocks called modules. Current partners are: Chevron Overseas Company, 50 percent; KazMunayGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LUKARCO B.V., 5 percent.The project engineering is being executed by Fluor and its joint venture partners from Fluor’s office in Farnborough, UK, with support from its engineering centers in Atyrau and Almaty, Kazakhstan; New Delhi, India; and Houston, as well as its integrated construction site in Tengiz. Engineering is led from Fluor’s office in Farnborough, UK and is supported by JV offices in New Delhi, Atyrau, Almaty and Houston. Fluor ’s joint venture team, KPJV, has been selected by Tengizchevroil (TCO) to execute the front-end engineering and design for the Multi-Phase Pump Project in Kazakhstan. In addition to Fluor, KPJV consists of Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas JSC, Engineering Company KAZGIPRONEFTETRANS LLP, and WorleyParsons. The Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP) will keep existing plants full by installation of a central pressure boost facility. The JV will train and enhance the skills of the local workforce with a high priority on safety, creating a long-term sustainable workforce in the region.TCO (a joint venture between Chevron, ExxonMobil, KazMunaiGaz, and LUKArco) undertook the $6.9 billion world-class expansion of its oil and gas production facilities in western Kazakhstan. Extreme weather conditions and temperatures range from +40 Celsius in summer to below -40 Celsius in winter.Key to the success of the project was pioneering a compressor and associated piping systems capable of delivering sour gas into the reservoir at 10,000 PSI in a way that is both safe and dependable.The Fluor JV also provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for a power plant at the TCO project site. The project team headquartered in Fluor's U.K. office provided engineering, procurement, and construction management services to TCO for both the SGI and SGP Projects. FGP will expand production by approximately 12 million tonnes per year. The Future Growth Project (FGP) is based on TCO’s successful 2008 Sour Gas Injection-Second Generation Project expansion, on which another Fluor-led Joint Venture participated. TCO conducts its operations in accordance with world-class safety and environmental standards.
