Great conditions and a great morning above treeline.Hiked 6/22 as a loop with a descent down Andrew’s glacier and out glacier gorge TH. There is no actual marker for the summit, according to other sources, once you reach the sign that is at the trail junction, that is technically the marker for the summit (and it does not say Flattop Mountain or anything).

You can't see the summit until the last 10 minutes of the hike. I lucked out with weather, the week prior had brought rain almost everyday at 13:00, so I wanted to reach the top and get back down to the tree line before then. If you are a seasoned hiker this should be a great hike! I go up Flattop trail via Bear Lake trail head and come down Andrew's Glacier, about 13.5 miles, and pop out on Skypond trail then head down to Glacier gorge parking and take bus to car, easy peasy. Wind and cold forced a retreat, but highly recommend. Windy and chilly so bring layers! The day I hiked it, the wind was brutal, especially above the treeline. The Flattop Mountain hike can be a challenge as you climb towards the summit, but you are rewarded with stunning views.
